[4/19/2008]-The news and media never had a problem detailing the gruesome sex crimes committed by anyone else, from the former president to the average Joe. But what happens when one of its own is afflicted? Newsbusters(REF2) found out.

They found a stark contrast between the source articles (SRC) from a variety of mainstream news providers, and the New York Post (REF1). In all of the first articles, they speak of Richard Quest (of CNN) being arrested in Central Park in New York for drug possession. But what's disturbing is what was left out and reported by the Post: "CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said."

I'm not sure why sources outside of CNN would protect Quest, but I'm not immersed in the politics of a highly concentrated news hierarchy. It is simply insulting that he would be protected by the Media, regardless of who he is, when others are shamelessly placed on display.

While I agree that it is unfair that his details were kept quiet to protect his privacy- I also think that there are some things we the public just don't need to know. Ew.
