[7/22/2008]-What is making the headlines today, definitely would not have made the news a month ago. This is a clear attempt of the media to profit from Bale's new found A-celebrity status. What the majority of the reports fail to state clearly (only People pointed this out) is that it is British policy to arrest a person in connection with a crime BEFORE questioning them, and before a formal conviction. Almost all articles go on to say that Bale went voluntarily to the station to be questioned, and left without any arrest. While it did catch my attention, as a long time fan of Christian Bale's acting, even Mrs. Bale (mother involved in the incident) stated that the police were not even called to the scene. The Hollywood Reporter even ended its article stating 'Bale's arrest coincides with a major ad campaign for the film and for Burger King, in which consumers are encouraged to give in to their "dark side." In one ad, a young man refuses to give up his seat to an old lady carrying heavy bags." ' I'm sure this is not the attention that Mr. Bale intended, but it is the price one pays for celebrity.

“Though I don't follow entertainment news, its clear it should have been labeled as "Christian Bale Questioned", not arrested. Though he was technically arrested, its clear what really happened, and at least People pointed this out (though at the end of the article). Just selling headlines.”
